A rich, buttery German sweet bread with pecans, candied fruit and raisins, topped with powdered sugar.
This seemingly simple Holiday treat is actually a beautiful picture of why we celebrate Christmas! The indentation in the middle represents the manger that held Christ on that first Christmas. The fruit and spices represent the treasures the Wise men brought, and the powder sugar illustrates the flawless and perfect Savior. As this bread bakes, it rises to almost twice its original height; a picture of Jesus rising from the grave three days after dying for the sins of the world!
Who would have thought the Gospel could be so well-illustrated…not to mention tasty!
